Boarding School, Kabul
SOLA offers a safe boarding house in Kabul for students from provinces who otherwise would have no opportunity to pursue a high quality education or, in many cases, any education at all.
In 2012-2013, the SOLA Boarding School houses 15 boarding students, and caters for 10 day students, from 13 provinces ((Balkh, Bamiyan, Faryab, Ghazni, Helmand, Kabul, Kandahar, Kunar, Laghman, Mazar, Nangarhar, Parwan, and Wardak). This number is expected to increase in the next academic year.
The boarding house provides a stable, secure and friendly home for young Afghans, many of whom are likely to lead increasingly mobile and international lives as they move through the SOLA continuum. Being a boarder at SOLA means being part of a genuinely caring, family community, where they are immersed into a vibrant mixture of backgrounds and ethnicities.

A growing library includes classics by Austen, Dickens, Dumas, Kipling, Lee, Orwell, Steinbeck, Twain, and Verne. |
Students share rooms with other boarders from across Afghanistan. All main meals are taken together, giving further opportunity for social interaction. Students are expected to contribute to cleaning and cooking, and sign a Code of Conduct before joining. They also pledge to speak only English while lodging at SOLA.
