Admission to SOLA

Picture
SOLA supports exceptional young Afghans determined to become Afghanistan’s future leaders—who stand out for commitment to changing their world in a multitude of ways.

As representatives of a multiracial, tolerant Afghanistan, students are expected to exhibit originality of thought, openness to new ideas, the ability to think critically, and the drive to succeed. Admission criteria include good academic standing in high school, or academic potential in the case of candidates from underserved areas of Afghanistan.

Scholarship candidates are expected to demonstrate proficiency in English on the TOEFL or equivalent, and receive targeted TOEFL support in preparation for SOLA’s international scholarship track.

New students are admitted once a year for the academic year beginning in September. Admission interviews take place before August or occasionally on an ad hoc basis. In case of a high number of qualified candidates, SOLA reserves the right to administer an admissions test.

Students can also be recommended and nominated by members of their community.
